The sweet life

The weather has been fabulous here the last few days...I am the happiest when it's over 70 degrees...hey, the LA girl in me loves warm weather, what can I say! The only that has been not so fun for me is my lame allergies. This over the counter stuff just doesn't cut it for me and I can't take anything else cuz I am still nursing...I know, poor me! I've been wanting to live in a bubble so but with this great weather I had to get out.

On Friday, Curtis, Marcus & I took Grammy (Curtis' mom) out for a belated birthday lunch...Marcus and I were sick on her actual birthday and missed her dinner. We went down to one of our favorite lunch spots, Alphy's, in the AG village. The weather was super nice...we went for a little walk around the village after we ate.

On Saturday, we ran some errands in SLO with my dad and then he came over for dinner.

On Sunday, Curtis, Marcus & I (and the dogs) enjoyed the morning warmth in our backyard. It was the first time our family just relaxed and enjoyed the weather together in the backyard. Then my dad came over and put Curtis to work on our latest project, the backyard bbq center. Curtis' mom came over to hang out and made us all lunch...how lucky we are! :) I definitely appreciated the help so I could catch up on some zzz's with Marcus. He had not been sleeping so well at night so of course that means, I wasn't sleeping. I think I slept 4 hours each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Needless to say, I was a walking zombie by Sunday.

I am happy to report though that Marcus slept 7 hours straight last night! YIPPEE!!!!! I woke up at 3:45 and could not believe that I hadn't nursed 5 times by then. It was amazing to get 6 hours of solid sleep and then I even got a few more after that. I have a few theories as to what his lack of sleep problem had been...we'll see which one comes true...but I am happy that I at least got one night of relief. :)

This morning, Curtis, Marcus and I headed over to Curtis' grandparent's place to go swimming. Curtis' grandma and Curtis' mom were there and even Curtis' dad stopped by for a bit. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and warm sun.

I'll be posting some pics from the weekend...so stay tuned.

How a few weeks makes a difference

Well it is has been a few weeks since our last posting and wow, A LOT has happened. I suppose that is how it goes when you have kids...they definitely put "how fast time flies" into perspective.
Marcus' accomplishments: he is grabbing his feet, picking up toys and twisting them around, sitting up supported (almost completely on his own) and saying cute non-sense words. He said "mama" for the first time the day before yesterday but it was not on purpose no matter how much I wanted it to be. :)

What we have been up to: we had quite a few visitors recently so things have been crazy but that is always the case with this Dunne household. Curtis' sister, Renee, came out from Salt Lake City for a weekend. We really enjoyed having her around. Curtis' aunt, Marilyn, came out the same weekend so we all got together for a family dinner at his grandparents' house. It was nice to see them all and watch them enjoy Marcus with us. Then a few days later my girlfriend from high school came up with her little boy (8 months old) and her daughter (6 years old). We did way too much in a short amount of time, including taking Marcus to the beach for the first time. That was fun but let me say it was A LOT of work! It was just us and our kids so it was interesting to say the least. Those few days were fun but a little too action packed. We ran around so much that Marcus and I ended up getting super sick after she left. Looking back, we realized we tried to fit too much in to a short amount of time. Our fever lasted for a few days. And for the record, fevers BITE especially when you are trying to take care of a feverish child. We both got over it just in time to get ready for our next group of visitors. My family (two brothers, sister-n-law, neice) and my best friend and her husband came up from LA; plus, my cousin and her family came down from Sacramento for Marcus' baptism. What a memorable and special time for us. It was an amazing weekend...my mom's house was full with people, tons of food and fun times. We will be posting some pics from all that has happened so please stay tuned. :)
